Relations with Chinese Officials.

Relations with the Chinese authorities remain in all respects satisfactory. Viceroy's continued illness still prevents his Excellency from receiving and paying The latest news is that he has been granted two months more sick leave. The V has repeatedly asked to be allowed to retire, and there have been rumours that his re has been granted, and that the present Viceroy of Ssu-ch'uan will take his Excelle place, the Governor Tê Shou going as Viceroy to Ssu-ch'uan. No orders have a come from Peking upon the subject.
